REPORT DAYS

Dear Parents/Guardians,
A student’s overall performance is based on his achievement in Scholastic areas as well as in            Co-scholastic areas and Co-curricular activities. The Report Card gives an accurate picture of the performance of the student in all these areas. It uses a grading scale to determine the quality of a student’s performance. In it the teachers record their individual as well as collective comments about the student's work and behaviour. A serious reflection on the Report card is essential to help students gain awareness about their situation, get insight into their strengths and weaknesses and thus use it as a tool for improvement.
To have sufficient time for interaction with teachers and to facilitate this reflection, it was felt by the management and the PTA Executive Committee members that two days be allotted for Parent Teacher meetings.
There will be no class on Report Days. But it is mandatory for parents and students to come together to collect the Report Card and meet the teachers on Report Day. Answer Scripts will not be shown on Report Day as they had already been sent home for your perusal and signature.
The date and time allotted below to meet the Class teachers will be followed strictly to avoid inconvenience to others. Subject teachers will also be available on these days.

Circular No.BV/14-15/11                                                                                                                                                                                                   4th July, 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Primarily three modes of transport are being used for transportation of students in the NCT of Delhi i.e. vehicles owned by the educational institutions, vehicles hired by the educational institutions and vehicles hired by the parents/guardians themselves.

The former two modes of transport are easy to monitor and it is generally observed that they follow the guidelines regarding safe transportation of school children under the Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993.  However, a majority of the vehicles hired by parents/guardians themselves are observed to be operating without taking adequate safeguards towards the safety of school children, thus jeopardizing the lives of young school children using this form of transport.  Most of these vehicles are overloaded and ply dangerously and recklessly at great speeds in utter disregard of traffic rules and regulations.  There have been numerous instances of fatal accidents involving these vehicles wherein students have lost their lives.

Delhi Traffic Police has been sensitizing the schools and parents for providing safe and legal transport to students through education and enforcement. The Directorate of Education has issued a circular regarding the same.

The increase in the number of vans/RTVs to transport students is a matter of great concern. Due to shortage of students a few school buses were cancelled and the bus routes were merged to make sure that transportation services are efficient and cost effective. The new bus routes are displayed on school website and notice boards.  Parents/guardians are exhorted to make use of the safe transport provided by the school and abstain from sending their children in illegal vans/RTVs which can prove dangerous or fatal owing to non-adherence of motor vehicle laws.

With close cooperation among Government Departments, parents and school, we believe that students can enjoy safer and more reliable transport services.

Yours faithfully,

Fr. Babu Varghese SDB
